IHS DOING GREAT THINGS AGAIN

This is the image for the news article titled IHS DOING GREAT THINGS AGAINFor the second year in a row, a few teachers offered another community service opportunity after school. On February 5th, thirteen students stayed after school to cook a meal of baked ziti, salad, garlic bread, and cakes. This meal was donated to one of the city’s homeless overflow shelters, which feeds and sleeps about 60 people each night. These overflow shelters are set up by different churches and community organizations in order to offer more beds during the coldest Erie months.

These students donated their time to prepare and cook the meal, and many IHS teachers donated money to cover the meal’s cost. The list to sign up filled quickly, and as always, students said “why can’t we do this more often?” This just shows that when given the opportunity to serve, students will choose to give to others and really enjoy doing so.
